تتواصل أعمال تطوير مدينة الملك فهد الرياضية بوتيرة متسارعة، تحضيراً للظهور المنتظر للملعب بحلته الجديدة، إذ سيكون الملعب الرئيسي من بين الملاعب التي ستستضيف نهائيات كأس آسيا 2027، وينتظر أن تقام على أرضه 8 مباريات، إذ يُعد الأكبر من بين الملاعب التي ستستضيف البطولة بسعة 72 ألف متفرج. وسيشهد الملعب مواجهة الافتتاح ونهائي البطولة، إضافة إلى 4 مباريات في دور المجموعات، من بينها المباراة الثانية للمنتخب السعودي في 12 يناير، إضافة إلى مواجهة في دور الـ16 بتاريخ 24 يناير، ومباراة في الدور ربع النهائي يوم 29 من الشهر ذاته، قبل استضافة النهائي بعد أسبوع.
وبثت وزارة الرياضة فيديو يوضح آخر تطورات الأعمال في المدينة الرياضية ولقاءات مع المهندسين المشرفين على الأعمال، إذ اتضح قيادة عدد من الكفاءات السعودية الشابة الأعمال في المدينة الرياضية، من بينهم المهندس حسين حصوصة من إدارة سلاسل الإمداد، والمهندس عبدالرحمن العنزي من إدارة سلاسل الإمداد والعقود، والمهندس عبدالرحمن العنقري من إدارة جاهزية التشغيل التجريبي، والمهندس عبدالحميد المطيري من إدارة أصحاب المصلحة والمعنيين.
The development works at King Fahd Sports City are progressing rapidly, in preparation for the anticipated unveiling of the stadium in its new look, as the main stadium will be among the venues hosting the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals. It is expected to host 8 matches, making it the largest among the stadiums that will host the tournament, with a capacity of 72,000 spectators. The stadium will witness the opening match and the final of the tournament, in addition to 4 matches in the group stage, including the second match for the Saudi national team on January 12, as well as a match in the Round of 16 on January 24, and a match in the quarter-finals on the 29th of the same month, before hosting the final a week later.
The Ministry of Sports broadcast a video showing the latest developments in the sports city and interviews with the engineers supervising the works. It became clear that a number of young Saudi talents are leading the works in the sports city, including engineer Hussein Hassousa from the Supply Chain Management, engineer Abdulrahman Al-Anzi from the Supply Chain and Contracts Management, engineer Abdulrahman Al-Anqari from the Operational Readiness Management, and engineer Abdulhamid Al-Mutairi from the Stakeholders Management.
