أصدر الرئيس المصري عبدالفتاح السيسي، أمس (الأربعاء)، قراراً جمهورياً بترقية كل من؛ قائد القوات البحرية اللواء بحري أركان حرب محمود عادل محمود فوزي، وقائد القوات الجوية اللواء طيار أركان حرب عمرو عبدالرحمن عبدالرحمن صقر، إلى رتبة فريق.
وصرح المتحدث باسم رئاسة الجمهورية السفير محمد الشناوي، أن هذه الترقيات تأتي «في إطار حرص القيادة السياسية على دعم وتطوير منظومة القوات المسلحة المصرية، وتعزيز قدراتها القتالية والفنية، في ظل التحديات الإقليمية والدولية الراهنة».
تأتي هذه الترقيات بعد ساعات قليلة من إجراء تعديل كبير في هرم القيادة العسكرية العليا، إذ قرر الرئيس السيسي تعيين الفريق أول أشرف سالم زاهر وزيراً للدفاع والإنتاج الحربي، خلفاً للفريق أول عبدالمجيد صقر الذي شغل المنصب عدة سنوات.
وكان زاهر يشغل منصب مدير «الأكاديمية العسكرية»، وترقى إلى رتبة فريق في يناير 2023، وهو من القيادات العسكرية المسؤولة عن نظم التدريب والقبول بالكليات العسكرية المصرية، وتولى سابقاً منصب مدير الكلية الحربية.
وأدى الفريق زاهر اليمين الدستورية أمام الرئيس المصري وزيراً للدفاع والإنتاج الحربي، ضمن مراسم أداء الوزراء الجدد اليمين، بحضور رئيس الحكومة مصطفى مدبولي.
ويعد زاهر رابع وزير يتولى مهمات وزارة الدفاع المصرية منذ تولي السيسي رئاسة الجمهورية في 2014، إذ سبقه الفريق أول صدقي صبحي الذي استمر في المنصب 4 سنوات، من مارس 2014 حتى يونيو 2018.
وفي الفترة من يونيو 2018 حتى يوليو 2024 تولى الفريق أول محمد زكي لمدة 6 سنوات، ثم الفريق أول عبدالمجيد صقر الذي استمر في منصبه نحو عام ونصف، من يوليو 2024، حتى فبراير 2026.
The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued a presidential decree yesterday (Wednesday) promoting both; the Commander of the Naval Forces, Rear Admiral Mahmoud Adel Mahmoud Fawzi, and the Commander of the Air Forces, Air Vice Marshal Amr Abdel Rahman Abdel Rahman Saqr, to the rank of Lieutenant General.
The spokesperson for the presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that these promotions come “within the framework of the political leadership’s commitment to support and develop the Egyptian Armed Forces system, and to enhance its combat and technical capabilities, in light of the current regional and international challenges.”
These promotions come just hours after a significant reshuffle in the upper military leadership, as President El-Sisi decided to appoint General Ashraf Salem Zaher as Minister of Defense and Military Production, succeeding General Abdel Meguid Saqr, who held the position for several years.
Zaher previously held the position of Director of the “Military Academy” and was promoted to the rank of General in January 2023. He is among the military leaders responsible for training systems and admissions to the Egyptian military colleges, and he previously served as the Director of the Military College.
General Zaher took the constitutional oath before the Egyptian President as Minister of Defense and Military Production, during the swearing-in ceremony of the new ministers, in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
Zaher is the fourth minister to assume the responsibilities of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense since El-Sisi took the presidency in 2014, following General Sedki Sobhi, who held the position for 4 years, from March 2014 to June 2018.
From June 2018 to July 2024, General Mohamed Zaki held the position for 6 years, followed by General Abdel Meguid Saqr, who remained in his position for about a year and a half, from July 2024 until February 2026.
