Apple has released iOS 26.2.1 and iPadOS 26.2.1. The updates bring minor improvements, but also include one significant new feature to both iPhones and iPads.The major change is support for Apple’s second-generation AirTag tracker.

The AirTag 2 comes with a new UWB chip, which supports Precision Finding. It let’s you track an item from 50% farther away. The new AirTag also packs an upgraded Bluetooth chip, with expanded range, and a 50% louder speaker.
The iOS 26.2.1 and iPadOS 26.2.1 allow you control the second-gen AirTag. Other than the AirTag upgrade, the new software release comes with some unspecified bug fixes, states the official release notes.
Installing the new update requires going to your Settings on your eligible iPhone or iPad. Then navigate to General > Software Update and the download should start immediately.
