Shanaya Kapoor is speaking candidly about a difficult moment from her dating life, and the way she describes it is resonating for its clarity around emotional betrayal. While promoting her recent film Tu Yaa Main, Shanaya Kapoor appeared on the show Relationshit Advice and recalled how a relationship she believed was “perfect” shifted overnight when she discovered her then boyfriend was simultaneously messaging multiple women.
The actor shared that the discovery happened during an overseas trip. In what felt like an ordinary moment, she picked up his phone to book a ride and noticed conversations that immediately raised alarms. What followed, she said, was a confrontation that left her rethinking not just that relationship, but what counts as cheating in the first place.
Shanaya Kapoor On Discovering The Messages
Kapoor revealed she found evidence that her boyfriend was chatting not just with an ex, but with several other women at the same time. She said she discovered he had been “talking to his ex partner as well as 4 to 5 other women.”
She also spoke about how he reacted when she brought it up. According to Kapoor, he tried to brush it aside by suggesting it was only messaging and not physical, a distinction she did not agree with.
Ananya Panday’s Immediate Advice
Shanaya said she turned to her close friends for support right after seeing the messages, sharing the details with her “girl gang.” She named Ananya Panday as one of the first people she leaned on in that moment.
Recalling the urgency of her friend’s response, Kapoor said Ananya told her to “catch the fastest possible train to get back to them” after she asked for advice.
The moment underlined the kind of quick, protective counsel friends often offer when someone is blindsided, especially while traveling and away from the comfort of home.
The “Guilty Earrings” She Still Wears
Kapoor also revealed a detail that stayed with her long after the trip. She said she pretended everything was normal for a couple of days, and then her boyfriend gifted her earrings, which she interpreted as a guilt driven present.
She added that she kept them and still wears them, saying, “I went mental, but I still have the earrings. I still wear them… I’ve earned those earrings. Those are my earrings.”
As the conversation continued, Kapoor made her stance clear that “just messaging” still counts as betrayal. She described it as emotional cheating and said that it ultimately led to the breakup.
