Celebrities are often in on—or may even have a hand in creating—the latest beauty innovations, but there’s something to be said for the products that stand the test of time. Few embody that same staying power quite like Hacks star Jean Smart.
From Designing Women, 24 and Sweet Home Alabama to Watchmen, Fargo and Mare of Easttown, Smart has portrayed some of the most talked-about characters of the last three generations. And with age comes wisdom, which she cheekily imparts in a new partnership with Olipop (for the launch of its Shirley Temple–flavored prebiotic soda) and in a recent interview with The Strategist, where the Emmy and Golden Globe winner’s favorite beauty picks are just as classic as she is.
Along with popcorn, Uggs, dark chocolate almonds and linen bed sheets (a woman after my own heart!), Smart lists three beauty products as her absolute must-haves:
Hot Rollers
First: Conair Hot Rollers, a hair tool she says she “couldn’t get by without.”
“Using a curling iron, it’s too much struggle. But these are so easy,” Smart tells the outlet. “Also, they come with clips that are so easy to use. Every set of curlers I’ve used have these clips that don’t really hold, so they’re always slipping out of place. These have the perfect clips that’ll hold every single side of the curlers. So that to me was everything.”
A Lightweight Luxury Foundation
Next, red carpet favorite CHANEL makes Smart’s list—specifically Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation, which she wears on Hacks and in everyday life. “I absolutely love this foundation because the color is so gorgeous,” she says. “It’s very lightweight, but it gives you full coverage if you want it.”
A Classic Sheer Pink Polish
Rounding out her trio is a manicure classic: OPI’s Bubble Bath, the sheer pink she says she gets “compliments on all the time.” The iconic neutral has the slightest hint of pink—making it a go-to for trends like soap nails and princess nails—and it famously pairs with OPI’s Funny Bunny for the perfect milky pink mani.
