The Apex Legends community has been left shocked after Team Liquid announced it’s letting coach Winnie ‘tiltedwinnie‘ Long explore options as a restricted free agent.
On February 18th, Team Liquid announced that tiltedwinnie and Nicholas ‘Fuhhnq’ Wall have permission to explore other teams. The tweet read: “Although they are still with Team Liquid, this allows them to explore all potential paths moving forward. Their time on our team was brief, and it left a lasting impression.”

tiltedwinnie’s short time with Team Liquid’s Apex Legends team
Apex Legends esports fans were surprised to see that tiltedwinnie was already a free agent. The highly respected coach was signed to Team Liquid in November 2025. The goal was to see the new roster succeed at the 2026 ALGS Championship, which was held in January in Japan.
Team Liquid was tiltedwinnie’s first big break, although she’s been prominent in the Apex Legends scene. This did add some pressure, but also motivation.
“I have a job to do, I have a lot more passion,” she said. “We’re competing for a family rather than for ourselves. We’re part of something bigger.”
Despite the lofty goal, the Apex Legends community believed in her abilities as a coach. This included players like Rhys “Zer0” Perry, who joined Team Liquid that same month.
“She’s the best mind for the game I’ve had as a coach, ever,” Zer0 said. “She’s always positive. That’s a huge part of it.”
Unfortunately, Team Liquid finished 33rd out of 40 teams that competed in the championship last month. This could be one of the reasons that Team Liquid is making these big roster moves for its Apex Legends team, although fans voiced frustration on social media, stating it wasn’t tiltedwinnie’s fault the team fumbled.
Until tiltedwinnie finds a new team, Team Liquid has stated that she will be featured in ‘upcoming projects already in the works’ along with Fuhhnq. Those will be released soon.
