If it were up to the Diablo community, Blizzard would tackle completely different issues than a lack of class diversity.
Diablo 2 has been the talk of the town again for a few days now, because the technically modernized Resurrected version was given a new class out of nowhere: the Warlock.
What’s next? This question became a topic of discussion on Reddit, and although some potential desired classes were mentioned, the mood in the thread quickly shifted in a different direction.
New class? No, thanks!
Matt_butchr (perhaps the Butcher himself?) asks his Diablo community: If more add-ons for Diablo 2 are released, which classes would you like to see?
With more expansions potentially coming to D2R, what other classes would you like to see added?

He himself immediately offers a few suggestions, followed by a few more from the initial responses to his question:
- Crusader
- Hunter
- Barbarian
- Monk
But the actual topic of the thread is quite different: Blizzard should stop adding new classes and instead address other weaknesses of the classic game. Several are mentioned, namely:
- A new act (or even several) to continue the story. Alternatively, many fans believe that the unfinished Act 4 should be expanded to provide a more satisfying ending.
- The return of Tristram Cathedral as a multi-level endgame dungeon.
- Balance improvements to existing classes.
- Official mod support to allow fans to create their own content.
- New items and additional equipment slots for characters.
What would you like to see?
The mood in the Reddit thread linked above is clear: new classes are all well and good, but we’d rather have new features and improvements.
Do you agree? Your opinion is of course much more interesting to us than that of any Redditors!

Not only in Diablo 2, but also in Diablo 4, things are continuing apace. On April 28, 2026, the next expansion, Lord of Hatred, will be released, which… oh, look, brings with it a new class: the Paladin!
