Netflix’s Coziest Drama That Keeps Getting Better Is the Perfect Binge Before Season 7 Drops Next Month

One of Netflix’s longest-running series, Virgin River, is returning for Season 7 next month. Based on Robyn Carr’s novels, the romantic drama series follows Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse practitioner, who moves to a remote Northern California town for a fresh start. And yes, six seasons in, Mel not only achieved her goal, but she became a major part in shaping new beginnings for many of the town’s denizens and new arrivals along the way.

With 64 episodes already under its belt, Virgin River has achieved a wonderful following that has helped it garner such success. If you’ve seen the series on your Netflix homepage but haven’t clicked it yet, there’s no better time to tune in and binge the series than now. If you need a reason to tune in, think of Virgin River as the comfort show you never knew you needed.

Netflix’s ‘Virgin River’ Is a Total Comfort Watch

Virgin River is the comfort food of television. You go to it to feel safe. There are certainly difficult topics that fill out the void when we’re not celebrating Mel and Jack (Martin Henderson), but Virgin River isn’t meant to blow your mind. It’s there to provide you with a warm hug when you need it most. Through love, loss, and the power of community, Virgin River celebrates how the people around you can help you get through anything. Whether it be recovery, trauma, or miscarriage, the tight-knit community is there. Though the town can get gossipy, it’s simply a rally cry to show support for the people who call Virgin River home. The peaceful, scenic, small-town essence makes you wish you had such a community. The vibes are very similar to Gilmore Girls, and we all know how special that series was.

Netflix’s Best Cozy Romance Series Is Climbing Global Charts Ahead of Season 4

Everyone loves a good small-town drama.

These are characters who are accessible, going through life’s highs and lows, similar to our own, and there is a primary romance that we can’t look away from. Of course, the lush landscape of Northern California is a view to be seen as well. Virgin River may seem like a wonderful show to watch when the leaves are turning, as it matches the titular town’s landscape, but the reality is, it’s a show for all seasons.

Season 7 Opens Up New Chapters for Many ‘Virgin River’ Characters

Virgin River boasts a wide-spanning ensemble that is equally engaging as Mel and Jack. Because each character is experiencing their own trials and tribulations, the relatable stories draw viewers into the series. And now, many of our favorite characters are about to embark on major new chapters in their lives.

Following the Season 7 trailer drop, we know newlyweds Mel and Jack are about to have a baby as they will be adopting from one of Mel’s patients, Marley (Rachel Drance). It’s a big moment for their long relationship, as they have been wanting to start a family for some time. Beyond our primary protagonists, we’re set to see more evolution in other dynamics, including Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) reaching out to Brie (Zibby Allen), Kaia (Kandyse McClure) reevaluating her relationship with Preacher (Colin Lawrence), and Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) and Denny (Kai Bradley), who are raising their first kid. The season welcomes two newbies to town, including Clay (Cody Kearsley) and Victoria (Sara Canning), as well.

While the season will be a setup for that big day when the baby is born, if you haven’t seen the show before, now is the perfect time to start your own new chapter and settle in with the easy-to-binge series. Virgin River may be an idyllic vision of community, but at the end of the day, it’s a heartwarming story that is meant to make you feel good. And who can’t use that?

Virgin River returns for Season 7 on March 12 on Netflix.
