Sci-fi 4x grand strategy game Stellaris blasts into 2026 with its awaited 4.3 Cetus update, whose release date is slated to introduce a series of new changes for the ever-evolving grand strategy game.
Titled Cetus, Stellaris’ patch 4.3 takes aim at a series of economic updates and naval changes that should tighten some more loose bolts ahead of this year’s slate of new content. In addition, balance tweaks and a lengthy slew of bug fixes are also expected.
Stellaris Update 4.3 Cetus Release Date
Stellaris’ update 4.3 is currently available in open beta, on a separate Steam branch. As revealed in a livestream that offers us a look at its state in late February, the Cetus patch’s release date is currently expected to occur in “mid-to-late March,” if everything goes according to plan.

Stellaris Update 4.3 Cetus Content
Stellaris’ update 4.3 content revolves around tweaks to the economy and naval side of the game, an initial list of targeted changes including aspects such as base tech costs, ethics and upkeep modifiers, alongside naval capacity, as well as the cost and upkeep of these units.
Back in December, the team behind the update admitted that the open beta was “very compartmentalized so we will have the option to pick and choose different aspects to bring to the final release.
“If all goes according to plan, 4.3 will be released to the live branches during the first quarter of 2026, but if we deem that it’s not ready yet, we’re planning to keep it in beta for longer. It’s also possible that we’ll choose to release some elements in 4.3 and then continue with a 4.4 Open Beta with the things that still need more work or polish.”
Since then, the Stellaris 4.3 Cetus patch gradually began to take shape, introducing additional performance optimizations as well as experimenting with introducing mixed ethics and factions within a pop group.
During March, the team behind the patch will focus on “fix[ing] bugs and making [even more] balance adjustments.”
Provided the experimental factions and ethics changes mentioned above “go well,” Stellaris’ 4.3 Cetus update will release in mid-March.
Should they introduce major issues, they will be delayed until the next update, hopefully not affecting its launch window.
That is what we know so far about Stellaris’ Cetus update 4.3, its release date, and content.
