This week, producer Ektaa Kapoor stepped in to draw a hard line between internet buzz and actual announcements, after chatter around Heer Raanjha began spiralling across social media.
The immediate trigger was a widely circulated claim around the film’s alleged female lead, with Sara Arjun’s name being pushed as “almost locked” in posts that framed the project as Imtiaz Ali’s next love saga and even credited Sajid Ali as director. The chatter travelled fast, but Kapoor’s message was clear: the information doing the rounds was not true.
Ektaa Kapoor’s Clarification On Sara Arjun And Heer Raanjha
As per the clarification shared by Ektaa Kapoor, Sara Arjun is not part of Heer Raanjha. The producer also called out the misinformation being spread around the project’s casting, signalling that unofficial “lock” claims and speculative graphics should not be treated as confirmation.
Kapoor’s pushback comes at a time when casting rumours have been frequent around the film, particularly after Heer Raanjha was announced as a new take on the classic Punjabi love story. While names have continued to surface online, the makers have not officially revealed the lead cast yet.
Separately, Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms have also issued formal public warnings in recent weeks against unauthorised individuals and fake social media accounts misusing the company’s identity for false casting opportunities. In the official statement shared online, Balaji Telefilms said it “unequivocally disassociate” itself from such entities and clarified that the company never solicits registration fees, audition charges, or monetary deposits.
Heer Raanjha Film Details So Far
Heer Raanjha has been announced as a contemporary retelling of the iconic tragic romance, backed by Ektaa Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. Sajid Ali is set to direct the film, reuniting the creative ecosystem associated with Laila Majnu (2018), which Imtiaz Ali presented and that has grown in cultural recall over the years. Beyond the premise and core intent to reimagine classic romance for a new generation, the team has not confirmed casting details publicly.
Sara Arjun’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Sara Arjun has steadily built visibility with high-profile screen appearances, including Dhurandhar (2025), which amplified her presence among young, in-demand talents. She has also been active as a child actor earlier in her career, with roles across languages, and has remained on the radar as a performer transitioning into bigger leading opportunities.
For now, though, Kapoor’s message draws a decisive boundary: Sara Arjun’s name should not be attached to Heer Raanjha until the makers themselves make an official announcement.
