The Galaxy S26 series features many upgrades over its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 lineup. Among many updates is the ability to summon the Perplexity assistant by saying, “Hey Plex.” But it seems Samsung removed this feature with the first software update.

Then, again, as the Galaxy S26 Ultra arrived, among the new features discovered on it over the Galaxy S25 Ultra was the Perplexity app that offered the ‘Hey Plex detection’ option. And once enabled and set up, just saying “Hey Plex” to the phone brought up the Perplexity assistant on the screen.

It happened that after installing the phone’s first software update, which was launched on Monday, it was observed that the Perplexity app was missing ( that’s the ‘Hey Plex detection’ option ).

This means that saying “Hey Plex” no longer brings up the Perplexity assistant on the device’s screen. As it is now with the new change, you can only bring up two assistants on the screen instead of three, Bixby and Gemini. You can do that by saying Hey Bixby and Hey Gemini, respectively.

Probably Perplexity removed the feature through an update to the app. Nevertheless, the app wasn’t updated before the ‘Hey Plex detection‘ option disappeared. This being the case, there’s the possibility that the feature was removed with the phone’s first software update.

For now, there’s no news on why Samsung or Perplexity removed it. It’s expected that Samsung will respond soon in this regard.
