Badshah’s controversial new Haryanvi track Tateeree has now spiralled from social media outrage and legal trouble into a far darker space. The singer-rapper has received a death threat attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, just days after he apologised publicly for lyrics and visuals that drew sharp criticism in Haryana.
The threat surfaced online in a purported Facebook post that not only targeted Badshah directly, but also referenced an earlier attack allegedly linked to his business interests, intensifying concerns around celebrity security and the growing overlap between pop culture flashpoints and gang intimidation.
The Latest Update
According to the purported post shared on Facebook, individuals named Randeep Malik and Anil Pandit, described as alleged members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, warned Badshah that they would “shoot” him “in the forehead.” The message accused him of “ruining the culture of Haryana” and added, “We showed you the trailer in your club in 2024; next time we will shoot you directly in the forehead.”
The same post also claimed responsibility for a firing incident outside an office in Panipat. In the message, the alleged authors wrote, “I, Randeep Malik and Anil Pandit (USA), take responsibility for the firing that took place today at the Western Union (Hawala) office of Gary and Shanky, associated with the Hawala business, on Assandh Road, Panipat.” It further warned that the incident was “just a trailer” and threatened more action.
The post ended with names of several individuals and groups believed to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi network. The authenticity of the Facebook post has not been independently established.
Why Tateeree Triggered Backlash And A Police Case
Badshah had already been under fire for Tateeree, with allegations that the track featured objectionable lyrics and visuals involving women and minors. The song was released on his official YouTube channel and quickly went viral, but also triggered complaints in Haryana, leading to a case being filed based on a complaint by a Panchkula resident.
Amid the backlash, Badshah issued an apology on camera, acknowledging the hurt caused by the lyrics and visuals. “My new song has been released, and I am seeing that the lyrics and the visual representation have caused a lot of people, especially from Haryana, a lot of hurt,” he said. Calling himself “a proud Haryanvi,” he added, “I never had the intention or the aim to speak of any women or children of Haryana in this manner.”
