Qatar strongly condemned Iran’s recent attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City, warning of serious consequences for regional stability and global energy supplies.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, described the strike as “unacceptable and unjustified,” rejecting Tehran’s claims that it targeted only U.S. interests.

“Iran’s attack on Ras Laffan… will have repercussions on energy supplies and affect millions of people around the world,” he said, warning that the assault on the world’s largest gas facility carried “serious implications for global energy supplies.”

Sheikh Mohammed added that the attack was a “clear proof” contradicting Iran’s narrative of targeting only U.S. interests.

Sheikh Mohammed called for an immediate halt to hostilities, urging Iran to “stop its attacks and not expand the conflict to the region,” warning that “any expansion of the war will never enable stability.”

He stressed that Qatar and its partners were working collectively to condemn the aggression and press for its immediate cessation, calling on Iran to comply with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and halt what he described as a dangerous expansion of the conflict.

He also condemned attacks against Turkey, stressing that the continued targeting of regional states “will not serve the security and stability of the region.”

Detailing the scale of the escalation, Sheikh Mohammed said the strike on Ras Laffan was part of a series of attacks targeting both military and civilian sites over the past two weeks. While confirming there were no casualties, he said damage assessments were underway and warned of significant implications for global energy markets.

He cautioned that such “hostile acts” and their continuation would only lead to deeper escalation, adding that Qatar continues to call for dialogue and diplomacy, but “unfortunately, wisdom seems to be absent these days.”

“We reserve our full rights to respond to this attack [on Ras Laffan Industrial City] through appropriate legal means and all of these actions will have consequences in accordance with international law,” he said.

He also highlighted disruptions to maritime navigation and threats to vessels in the vital Strait of Hormuz, underlining the broader risks to global trade routes.

Sheikh Mohammed said that “this war must be stopped immediately,” warning that ongoing attacks were serving agendas that risk dragging the region into prolonged conflict.

He reiterated that regional security is a “collective responsibility,” calling for an immediate halt to Iranian attacks and broader de-escalation efforts to prevent the region from sliding into more dangerous instability.

“What we hope for is for our people [in the region] to live in peace and to be spared the consequences of these irresponsible decisions that are dragging the region, unfortunately, into a spiral from which it will be very difficult to emerge,” he said.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan echoed calls for restraint, noting Ankara’s “friendly” advice to Iran not to widen the conflict and stressing its “historic responsibility” to avoid targeting neighbouring states while continuing diplomatic efforts to help end the war.
