AI arrived in the enterprise before the enterprise was ready for it. That’s not a criticism of AI. ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot are remarkable tools. Enterprises are paying for them, sanctioning them, and encouraging their use. But pair that with AI sprawl driven by personal preferences and a variety of models, and control slips fast. Organizations aren’t falling behind on AI adoption. They’re falling behind on scaling it.
