If you own a PlayStation Portal, then you might want to check your device for a new update—Sony recently announced that it’s begun the global rollout of a system update for the PlayStation Portal, which brings a range of performance and usability enhancements for Remote Play and Cloud Streaming.

One key feature is the addition of new 1080p High Quality mode, which allows players to stream at a higher bitrate than the previous standard setting, with a smoother and more detailed visual experience. Users can enable the feature by navigating to the Quick Menu and selecting “1080p High Quality” under the Max Resolution settings, though a session restart is required for the changes to take effect.

For Cloud Streaming, the Product Detail Page has been updated with a new UI for game bundles, allowing players to select specific titles directly from the stream menu. Additionally, on-screen notifications for game invites and trophies have been redesigned for better visibility; trophy alerts now include the specific trophy name and image, while Platinum trophies now feature their signature animation.

The update also brings some tweaks to the device’s general navigation and setup. The search interface has been optimized to trigger the On-Screen Keyboard immediately upon entry, and a new QR-code-based onboarding process allows new users to create accounts and sign in quickly via their mobile devices.
