Google’s biggest Pixel hasn’t officially been announced yet, but we already have a pretty good idea of what it’ll look like. Leaker OnLeaks, working with Android Headlines, just dropped the first CAD-based renders of the Pixel 11 Pro XL, and if you’re a Pixel 10 Pro XL owner, prepare for déjà vu. The Pixel 11 Pro XL comes in at 162.7 x 76.5 x 8.5mm, which is essentially identical to its predecessor. That’s a difference of just 0.1mm in height and width, close enough to be a measurement rounding error.
Two things do stand out visually. The camera bar is now fully blacked out. Where the Pixel 10 Pro XL had a body-colored section around the flash, the Pixel 11 Pro XL matches the all-glass look introduced across the rest of the Pixel 11 lineup, reverting to something closer to the Pixel 6’s full-visor design. The bezels also appear slightly thinner, reportedly measuring around 1.1mm. Those are the upgrades. But there’s also something missing.
One Familiar Feature Appears to Be Gone
The infrared temperature sensor that’s lived inside the camera bar since the Pixel 8 Pro isn’t visible anywhere in these renders. It normally sits just below the flash. The same omission showed up on the Pixel 11 Pro renders that leaked earlier this week, so this isn’t an isolated thing. CAD files can occasionally leave out smaller components, so it’s not confirmed gone. But the all-black camera bar makes it harder to dismiss, since there’s no obvious place for the sensor to hide.
It’s worth noting that Google has been developing Project Toscana, a secure face unlock system reportedly using under-display infrared tech. Phandroid also previously covered early reports suggesting the Tensor G6 was being built to support under-display IR cameras. If Google is moving IR hardware to the front for face unlock, dropping the rear thermometer makes more sense. A full launch is expected in August, so more details should surface well before then.
