ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Apr, 2026) Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam on Friday termed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz a major diplomatic success for Pakistan, saying the country had emerged as a global flag bearer of peace.
He said that the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir had played a key role in easing tensions in the middle East and promoting stability in the region.
Amir Muqam said Iran’s announcement to reopen the key maritime route and the acknowledgment by the US President reflected Pakistan’s effective diplomatic engagement and growing credibility on the global stage.
Amir Muqam said that global leaders, including heads of Gulf countries, President of Turkiye and the Prime Minister of United Kingdom, had appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for promoting peace and reducing tensions in the region.
He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal had played an important diplomatic role in reducing tensions in the Middle East through constructive engagement and dialogue.
Minister said that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and the people of Iran had also acknowledged Pakistan’s responsible and effective role in preventing escalation and promoting peace.
Amir Muqam said Pakistan’s role had also been appreciated at the global level, including by the United Nations Secretary-General and other world leaders.
He said these efforts were a positive development for ensuring lasting peace in the region and would also have a favorable impact on the global economy.
