Google’s AI-powered search experience will soon get a UI refresh. A beta code of the Google app reveals some tweaks in the design language of the conversational “Search Live” mode and the main home screen. This update will bring a more colourful and dynamic aesthetic UI, just like that for Gemini.

Google Search Live is getting an animated, colourful UI refresh
The update introduces a new animation that plays during spoken interactions. When a user speaks to Search Live, a purple-blue hue appears around the edges of the screen. As the AI responds, a light at the bottom of the display shifts colours in sync with the speech patterns. While the aesthetic change adds no new functionality, it makes the whole app feel more interactive.
Google also made small changes to the main search interface, by making the buttons located under the search bar smaller and more uniform. Even the “Search Live” button is being rebranded with the simpler label “Talk.”
The Nano Banana branding in the current version of the app has been replaced with a stylish “stack of photos” icon and the label “Create.” It makes the Nano Banana function clearer — generating images. The previous icon didn’t explain much.
These updates are part of Google’s plan to redesign its AI-powered systems, just like it’s doing with Gemini. The design tweaks are not yet live, but they’ll roll out very soon.
