Before going live, Google announced The Android Show: I/O Edition event that would take place ahead of Google I/O 2026, between May 19 and 20.
Instead of an in-person event like the previous year, Google chose a more flexible approach of streaming online. The Android Show I/O Edition 2026 began at 10:00 AM PT (1:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM GMT) yesterday, May 12. You can watch the video here.
Google shared several Android 17 announcements during the show, including new features and updates. Gemini AI seemed to be a major focus among other things.
The company has teased that 2026 will be one of the biggest years yet for Android, so we just have to watch Google’s plans unfold.
