Uncharted 5 Has PlayStation Gamers More Excited Than Ever

It was back in 2025 when a rumor began to swirl over a potential single-player title currently in development at Naughty Dog. This came after the unannounced game was teased by reliable insider DanielRPK, who shared a brief update on their Patreon page. According to the insider, Naughty Dog has one other single-player game in development, and it is “not The Last of Us Part III.” Additionally, the game would be led by Shaun Escayg, the director of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Marvel’s Avengers and perhaps most excitingly, it has been in development for three years (via The Game Post).

Not only that, but Escayg helped fuel the rumors back in 2025 after he posted an interesting snap to his Instagram page. In it, he shared a photo of a cannon against a stunning backdrop, with the caption reading, “Research.” Of course, this does not confirm anything, and Escayg could be researching all manner of things, but on top of the Uncharted 5 rumors and the vibes of the setting being very Uncharted-esque, it is no wonder that excitement started to ramp up.

So, is the single-player game at Naughty Dog a potential Uncharted 5? Well, Escayg has not confirmed the rumor, but at the time of writing, the only official project we know Naughty Dog to be working on is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and with the brand-new IP featuring a sci-fi setting, it is safe to assume that a cannon will not play a large role.

Whilst Naughty Dog has not confirmed the continuation of Uncharted, it seems as though fans are still feeling the hype following the multiple leaks and Escayg’s not-so-subtle hint, and have recently taken to r/GamingLeaksAndRumors to share their thoughts. “I mean, it would make sense. He directed Lost Legacy, and that was awesome,” one comment read, whilst another fan had a potential setting for Uncharted 5, “I’d love to play a Young Sully game where he’s globe-trotting and tomb raiding in the 60’s/70’s.” “Uncharted is an IP I don’t mind getting more of,” another comment read. “Would be hard to be sick of it if they keep the quality up.”

At the time of writing, the last mainline Uncharted title was released back in 2016 with the launch of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and I do not know about you, but it seemed like a worthwhile finale, especially with Nathan Drake hanging up his adventuring clothes. In 2017, fans were treated to spin-off title, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, but there has been no news of a potential continuation. Of course, this makes sense considering that Naughty Dog turned its attention to The Last of Us franchise, and now it is focusing on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and so the Uncharted saga has been left in the dust, at least for the time being.

So, for now, we can only hope that this rumored single-player game in development at Naughty Dog will give us more Nathan Drake, or perhaps even explore some of the other beloved characters in the franchise.
