New polymer-hybrid capacitor technology delivers high capacitance and industry-leading ripple-current capability in a reduced-height package designed for compact 48V automotive systems.

As 48V automotive architectures continue expanding across electric power systems, body electronics, and advanced vehicle subsystems, designers face increasing pressure to fit higher-performance components into tighter spaces. Addressing these design constraints, a newly introduced polymer-hybrid capacitor series by TAIYO YUDEN combines high capacitance, high ripple-current handling, and reduced package height for automotive applications with strict dimensional requirements.
The new capacitor family is designed around a φ12.5 × 13.5 L (mm) package, offering a lower-profile alternative to larger hybrid capacitor designs commonly used in the market. By reducing component height while maintaining electrical performance, the device helps engineers optimise board layouts in compact vehicle electronic systems where vertical space can be limited.
The key features are:
• 63V/150µF electrical specification for 48V systems
• Compact φ12.5 × 13.5L(mm) package size
• Ripple current capability up to 5,000mArms at 125°C/100kHz
• Vibration-resistant version supports 30G conditions
• AEC-Q200 compliant for automotive applications
For 48V system applications, the series provides a capacitance-voltage combination of 63V/150µF within compact package dimensions. Such capability supports power conversion and filtering functions across automotive electronics, where stable operation under varying load conditions is critical.
The devices are also designed to handle demanding electrical environments and offer high ripple-current capability. The series supports ripple current ratings up to 5,000 mArms at 125°C and 100kHz, helping improve power stability and thermal performance in systems under high operating loads.
Mechanical reliability remains an important requirement in automotive electronics because components frequently encounter continuous vibration and harsh environmental conditions. To address this, the vibration-resistant variant in the family supports 30G tolerance levels and complies with automotive qualification requirements.
The capacitor series is intended for applications in modern 48V vehicle systems, including power modules, onboard electronics, and automotive subsystems that require high capacitance in compact form factors.
