The iPhone 19 Pro display might already be the biggest iPhone redesign in years

Apple’s iPhone designs don’t change often. The flat-edged look has been around since the iPhone 12. Outside of the Dynamic Island and some camera upgrades, the front of the phone has stayed pretty familiar. That might be about to change in a big way. According to a new leak, Apple is testing an iPhone 19 Pro display that curves on all four edges. If it holds, it’d be the most dramatic visual overhaul since the iPhone X.

The claim comes from Digital Chat Station, a Weibo leaker with a pretty reliable track record. They correctly predicted the design of the iPhone Air and the iPhone 17 Pro ahead of launch. According to the leak, the iPhone 19 Pro display wraps around all four sides of the phone. The prototype reportedly has a hole-punch cutout for the front camera, but Face ID sits fully hidden under the panel. These devices are in the evaluation stage, so nothing is locked in yet.

The Bigger Question This Raises

There’s a wrinkle worth paying attention to. Apple has been building toward a 20th anniversary iPhone for 2027. Earlier reports described a special model with a quad-curved, fully cutout-free display. If the iPhone 19 Pro already gets the curved screen treatment, it’s harder to see how Apple makes the anniversary model feel distinct.

One possibility is that Apple keeps the fully uninterrupted display, no hole-punch at all, exclusive to the anniversary model. The 19 Pro would get the curve but keep a small punch-hole camera. That split would draw a clear line between the two. It also tracks with what we already know. Apple has been struggling to get the front camera under the display without degrading quality. A hole-punch iPhone 19 Pro display may simply be the more realistic near-term option.

There’s also the naming question. Apple may skip the iPhone 19 name entirely and go straight to iPhone 20 to mark the anniversary. It wouldn’t be the first time. Apple jumped from iPhone 8 to iPhone X in 2017 for the same reason. Nothing is confirmed yet on that front. But 2027 is shaping up to be a genuinely interesting year for iPhone hardware.
