Considered one of the greatest action film series of all time, Derek Kolstad’s prominent John Wick franchise has come a long way from the first movie, released in 2014. The installment has since spawned three sequels and multiple spin-offs, as well as several more projects in development, including a fifth chapter. Keanu Reeves headlines the films in the titular role as a legendary hitman unwillingly drawn back into the criminal underworld after retiring to seek revenge against the men who killed his dog, a final gift from his recently deceased wife.
Despite the franchise’s popularity, there aren’t many streamers that provide all four chapters, and as of June 2025, the films were available to stream on only Peacock, Fubo TV, USA Network’s streaming app, and NBC.com. That’s about to change as Hulu has plans for this summer. As announced by the streamer, the four original John Wick films will begin streaming on Hulu starting August 15, joining a bunch of exciting titles including the 2013 sci-fi thriller The Host and the 2025 horror pic It Feeds.
The first John Wick installment debuted on October 24, 2014, to generally positive reviews for its style and action sequences. The film was made on a budget of $20–$30 million and became a surprise box office hit, grossing $86 million globally. On top of that, it holds a fresh 86% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, just slightly higher than the Popcornmeter rating of 82%. Alongside Reeves, the production also stars Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Bridget Moynahan, Dean Winters, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, and Willem Dafoe.
There’s Still More ‘John Wick’ Coming!
Upon the successful release of John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2 came about in 2017, followed by John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum in 2019 and John Wick: Chapter 4 in 2023, which became the highest-grossing film in the series. As fans know, that’s not the end of the chapters, as a fifth one was officially announced at CinemaCon in April 2025, with Reeves set to reprise the titular role, and Chad Stahelski, who helmed the four predecessors, returning to direct.
Other productions in the franchise include the prequel comic book series John Wick: The Book of Rules, the prequel TV miniseries The Continental, and the 2025 spin-off film Ballerina. There’s also the upcoming untitled film centered on the blind assassin Caine, portrayed by Donnie Yen in John Wick: Chapter 4, a TV series called John Wick: Under the High Table, and an untitled anime prequel film.
All four John Wick chapters land on Hulu next month. Stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
