Corey Hawkins is one of the many names attached to star in The Odyssey for Christopher Nolan, but ahead of his debut in the 2027 historical epic, he will team up with a former Spider-Man star for a psychological thriller that just got an exciting new look. Hawkins will star alongside Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Anna Diop (The Book of Clarence), Jonathan Ajayi (Alien: Earth), Gershwyn Eustache Jnr, (Get Millie Black), Pamela Nomvete (Andor), and Tamara Lawrance (The Silent Twins) in The Man in My Basement, which is coming to Hulu and select theaters this fall. As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event for the fall, we are thrilled to debut a new image of Hawkins in The Man in My Basement, showing the star attending a funeral, just waiting for things to go awry.
Nadia Latif wrote the screenplay for The Man in My Basement along with Walter Mosley, and she also directed the film. The Man in My Basement follows Charles Blakey (Corey Hawkins), a man who is out of work and out of luck, ready to foreclose on his ancestral home. When a mysterious businessman by the name of Anniston Bennet (Willem Dafoe) offers to rent out his basement for the summer for enough money to permanently pay off his debt, he reluctantly accepts, only to find himself heading down a terrifying path leading him to confront the ghosts of his family’s past. Diane Houslin, John Giwa-Amu, and Dave Bishop are all producing The Man in My Basement, which is being distributed by Andscape, a Black content studio that explores the depth of Black identity through its power in sports and culture.
What Else Is Corey Hawkins Known For?
Corey Hawkins first made a name for himself starring alongside O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Den of Thieves 2: Pantera) and Aldis Hodge (Black Adam) in Straight Outta Compton, and just two years later, he also teamed up with MCU stars Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson for Kong: Skull Island. He’s also starred in the Oscar-winning film BlacKkKlansman alongside John David Washington and Adam Driver, and he recently led The Last Voyage of the Demeter with Game of Thrones veteran Liam Cunningham and David Dastmalchian.
The Man in My Basement will hit theaters and Hulu this fall. Check out the exclusive image above and stay tuned for more movie news from Collider’s Exclusive Preview all week.
