Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has introduced the Vishay Sfernice TSM41 series, a new range of industrial-grade, multi-turn, and surface-mount cermet trimmers.

They are designed for precision adjustment in space-constrained, harsh-environment applications. 

Targeted at electronics engineers and product designers working in industrial automation, HVAC systems, welding machinery, power tools, as well as developers of rugged, high-precision electronic controls, the device can offer support to meet application requirements. 

The company claims that compared to earlier generations, the TSM41 series features a 42% smaller case size, enabling tighter PCB layouts and higher package density. It can be beneficial in areas requiring compact footprints, precise calibration, and long-term reliability.

For manufacturers, it supports direct PCB mounting, allowing automated assembly and calibration for faster, more cost-efficient production. Components can be mounted on both sides of the board, and full IP67 sealing ensures reliability even after standard board wash processes.

This makes them well-suited for welding equipment, power tools, smoke detectors, and HVAC systems, where durability against dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures is essential. The device combines a compact 4 mm x 4 mm footprint with an extended operating temperature range from -55 °C to +140 °C and IP67 sealing.

As per the details, engineers can fine-tune circuits across a 10 Ω to 1 MΩ resistance range with greater precision, due to its multi-turn design and improved setting-to-time ratio over single-turn trimmers. Rated at 0.25 W at +85 °C, the series is available in both top and side adjustment styles for greater design flexibility.
