Courtroom Drama Drops To 1 Crore On Monday, FLOP Streak Continues For Emraan Hashmi And Yami Gautam’s Hit Streak Halts

Designs 3 1

The Monday test has arrived for Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam‘s courtroom drama Haq, and the results are not looking good. The film has crashed on its first Monday, collecting only 1 crore at the Box Office. This massive drop signals trouble for the movie’s theatrical run.

Haq showed some promise over the weekend with steady growth. However, the Monday collections have confirmed what many feared. The film is struggling to find an audience in theatres despite receiving positive reviews from critics and viewers.

Haq Box Office Collection

Day Collection
Day 1 2.03 cr
Day 2 3.79 cr
Day 3 4.19 cr
Day 4 1 cr
Total 11.01 crore net

The Monday Crash Spells Trouble

The drop from 4.19 crore on Sunday to just 1 crore on Monday is alarming. This represents a fall of over 75 percent, which is one of the worst Monday drops seen in recent times. Going by this trend, Haq will struggle to even reach 15 crore in its first week.

The problem is clear. While the film has won praise for its powerful performances and relevant subject matter, audiences are choosing to wait for its OTT release rather than watching it in theatres. This is the same fate that befell many content driven films in recent months.

Budget Concerns Make It Worse

Haq was reportedly made on a budget of 45 crore. With the current collections standing at just 11.01 crore after four days, the film is nowhere close to recovering its costs. Even if the movie shows some stability in the coming days, it is highly unlikely to cross even 20 crore in its lifetime.

This makes Haq a clear flop at the Box Office. The makers will have to depend entirely on the OTT and satellite rights to recover their investment.

About Haq

Haq is inspired by the 1985 Shah Bano case. The case began with a 62 year old Muslim woman’s plea for maintenance from her husband after their divorce, sparking a national debate on secularism, minority rights and the need for a Uniform Civil Code. The film is directed by Suparn S Varma and produced by Junglee Pictures, Insomnia Films, and Baweja Studios. Along with Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam, the movie also stars Vartika Singh, Sheeba Chaddha, and Danish Husain in key roles.
