True story.

My boss, Angel, is a master of compelling silence. Yes, compelling. Oppressing, even. Unlike many others who receive attention by creating noise, she does the exact opposite.

She makes none.

I remember what it was like working with her at the beginning. I was worried. I have seen her in management meetings and was secretly panicking. She was too quiet. Based on my prior experience, she would be sidelined.

And I would follow.

Boy… I was so wrong.

This lady amazes me.

The master of attention understands pain

Many people struggle in a quiet environment.

What do they do? They fidget. They doom scroll. When there are enough people, they start talking among themselves.

I see this in the office hallway. I see this in senior management meetings.

Don’t be surprised. Senior managers enjoy talking. They love to flex. Their presentations and articulations are all about how darn good they are. This is social media in real life.
