Al Shaqab Cup 2026 opened on Wednesday at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab, marking the return of the Doha Equestrian Tour, held in a controlled environment and without public attendance.
The Longines Global Champions Tour and the Doha Equestrian Tour previously confirmed the postponement of the Doha event on 2 March—days before it was scheduled to take place 4–7 March—in light of the regional situation.
The current four-day competition is taking place across CSI1*, CSI3*, CSI5* and CSIY-B levels, with live coverage available across broadcast platforms and Doha Equestrian Tour social media channels.
Day 1 featured two CSI5* classes and early victories for the United States’ Kristen Vanderveen in the CSI5* 1.50m Faults & Time and Qatar’s Bassem Mohammed in the CSI5* 1.40m Two Phases.
“In the CSI5* 1.40m Two Phases, Bassem Mohammed (QAT) and Wathnan Chaccball delivered the winning performance to give the home side an early five-star success. Later in the day, the CSI5* 1.50m Faults & Time was won by Kristen Vanderveen (USA) with Bull Run’s Jireh, rounding off the opening programme,” the press release said.
“The Al Shaqab Cup continues on Thursday with competition expanding across the wider international programme,” it added.
The event’s full live coverage and highlights can be accessed through the ALKASS and Qatar Equestrian Federation YouTube channels. Other places offering coverage of the event include beIN Sports and ClipMyHorse.TV, Horse & Country, Cheval TV, TOD.TV, and Grand Prix TV.
