All status effects and how to remove them

Trainees in Umamusume: Pretty Derby can be affected by positive and negative status effects, which either provide some welcome benefits or are so annoying that you’ll want to rip your hair out. 

Being a roguelike game, Umamusume contains plenty of randomness to keep itself fresh from run to run and these status effects are one such factor. You usually acquire them through story or Support Card events. While some events inevitably inflict effects on your Trainee, some are avoidable by picking the correct dialog choices. Indeed, you can acquire many of the positive effects this way intentionally.

Shining Brightly is an effect unique to Super Creek, while a stronger version of Practice Perfect can be acquired by Mejiro Ryan. Unlocking Umamusume outfits increases your chance of getting the Hot Topic status, as the events associated with signature racewear can trigger the effect.

Under the Weather is an effect unique to Super Creek and can show up when she participates in the Sumire Stakes, one of her objective races.

The most reliable way to remove any negative effects in Umamusume is to spend a turn at the Infirmary. However, there is always a chance that the treatment fails and the effect stays active, essentially wasting a turn (aside from a small Energy gain). Still, if you really want to get rid of negative status effects, this is the best way to do it. Some conditions have additional ways of curing them, offering you an alternative path forward.
