According to Google, the first Android 17 beta is on the way. It’s no news that the company recently started rolling out the Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1 update to eligible Pixel phones.
Google revealed in a Reddit post, that Android 17 Beta 1 will be unveiled soon. It will feature bug fixes and offer improved performance as well as system stability.

The interesting thing is that users who are presently enrolled in the Android Beta programme will automatically receive the Android 17 Beta 1 update, as soon as it drops. A report from 2025, revealed that the Android 17 update would feature the internal codename, ‘Cinnamon Bun.’
It’s advisable that users who don’t wish to install the Android 17 beta should exit the beta programme. The users should ignore the update labelled ‘Downgrade’ and opt out now, then wait for the stable public release of Android 16 QPR3. By doing so, they won’t lose their data.
After installing the Android 17 beta and you later decide to opt out without wiping your device, you’ll have to wait until the beta cycle concludes around June this year.
There’s the likelihood that the Android 17 update will arrive in Q2 2026. It will no doubt, bring lots of improvements, new gaming features, and additional enhancements, all for a better experience.
