Android 17 (internally codenamed “Cinnamon Bun”) has officially entered its early testing phase. Google has shifted its strategy this year, replacing the traditional Developer Previews with a “Canary” channel to streamline development. We expect the stable build of Android 17 to start rolling out to Pixel devices around June 2026. Following this, Poco users can look forward to the update arriving alongside the company’s skin, likely HyperOS 3 or the upcoming HyperOS 4, which promises a “Zero-Legacy” architecture for faster performance.

Here is the list of Poco devices currently eligible to receive the Android 17 update:

Android 17 key features
Android 17 focuses heavily on Large Screen Adaptivity. For the first time, Google is making it mandatory for apps to be resizable, effectively killing off those annoying black “letterbox” bars on tablets and foldables. This will ensure that Poco Pad users enjoy a truly immersive, full-screen experience across all their favorite apps without developers needing to manually “opt-in.”
On the visual front, Android 17 expands the Material 3 Expressive design. Users can expect more translucent “blur” effects throughout the UI, particularly in the volume sliders and power menus. Under the hood, a new “lock-free MessageQueue” is set to reduce dropped frames, making the system feel smoother than ever, while enhanced privacy controls will give users clearer visibility into how apps access sensitive data.
