Apple has announced iOS 26 at their Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025. One interesting development is how the numbering of iOS jumped from 18 all the way to 26. Apple says they did this to align the operating system’s name with the upcoming calendar year. Why not the current year, though?
Anyway, if you are wondering what is new in iOS 26, the major change is the new “Liquid Glass” design overhaul which incorporates crystal-like reflective and refractive elements, dynamically adapting to content across apps and devices. This is the most significant visual redesign since iOS 7.
There are other smaller, more utilitarian improvements in iOS 26. they include Live Translation, Visual Intelligence, Smarter Siri, Genmoji, Image Playground, among others.
