Apple just sent invites for something happening March 4

Apple March Event

Apple’s doing something unusual next month. The company sent out invites for what it’s calling a “special Apple Experience” on March 4. It’s happening simultaneously in three cities: New York, London, and Shanghai. The event kicks off at 9:00 AM ET.

The invitation itself doesn’t give much away. It features a 3D Apple logo made up of yellow, green, and blue discs. That’s about it for clues. What stands out here is Apple’s choice of words. They’re calling it an “experience” rather than an event. This suggests it won’t be the typical livestreamed product launch we’re used to seeing from Apple Park.

The timing’s interesting too. This lands right in the middle of Mobile World Congress, the industry’s biggest annual gathering in Barcelona. Apple rarely participates in MWC. But scheduling something during the conference means they’re effectively stealing attention from everyone else’s announcements.

What Apple might announce

Several products have been rumored for a spring launch. The iPhone 17e should arrive soon with MagSafe support and Apple’s C1X modem. Some reports pegged February 19 as the launch date. But March 4 would still fit the spring timeframe.

There’s also talk of new MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Plus refreshed MacBook Air models with the M5 chip. The low-cost MacBook with an A18 chip could make an appearance too. Those colorful discs in the invitation match rumored color options.

iPad updates are also possible. The iPad Air could jump from M3 to M4. The base iPad might get a chip upgrade from A16 to A17. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentioned that several announcements are “imminent,” which lines up with this March 4 date.

The invite colors have people speculating. Those yellow, green, and blue shades match up with the color options Apple tested for the budget MacBook. It could also signal new spring colors for iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands, something Apple typically does this time of year.

There’s no indication of a livestream. This feels more like a hands-on press event than a major product reveal. Apple might announce products and let media get their hands on the hardware. Then they’ll release everything shortly after.
