Ubisoft has published a roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, revealing the content planned until the end of March. The focus is on a major title update, a new parkour challenge for the community, and a fixed release date for the Switch 2 version of the Claws of Awaji DLC.
The next title update will be released on February 17. It will bring new features for evaluation, combat feedback, and parkour. Shortly after that, Ubisoft will launch a competition in which players can submit videos of their own parkour runs. It has also been confirmed when the Switch 2 version will receive the Claws of Awaji expansion.
Title update on February 17 brings stats page, crit feedback, and manual jump
The upcoming update on February 17 adds a new stats page to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This can be accessed directly from the inventory and is intended to provide a detailed overview of the values of the current loadout. This makes it much easier to compare equipment, buffs, and effects than before.
Ubisoft is also revamping the visual feedback for critical hits. In the future, the enemy’s health bar will flash when a critical hit is landed. The animations will also be noticeably more direct, making critical damage easier to recognize.
However, the most important new feature is the new Manual Jump option. Once “advanced parkour” is activated in the menu, you can jump at any time. Ubisoft is positioning this feature as a step towards freer routes and smoother parkour transitions.
Ubisoft launches Parkour Challenge with community voting and prizes
To coincide with the introduction of Manual Jump, Ubisoft is launching a Parkour Challenge. Players can record their own runs and submit videos up to 60 seconds long.
The focus is on creative parkour routes made possible by the new jump system. Ubisoft has also announced community voting, meaning that it won’t just be the jury deciding which entries win, but the players too.
Prizes include signed vinyl albums, figurines, and other merchandise.
Ubisoft also refers to a separate set of rules that governs participation and the process.
Claws of Awaji will be released on March 10 for Switch 2
The roadmap also includes an update on the Switch 2 version. The Claws of Awaji expansion will be released there on March 10.
The DLC expands Assassin’s Creed Shadows with a new region and additional missions. Once again, Yasuke and Naoe are at the center of the story. This means that the Switch 2 version will also receive the same expansion content that is already planned for other platforms.
Ubisoft remains under pressure despite strong series
The roadmap comes at a time when Assassin’s Creed has recently been perceived much more positively again. At the same time, Ubisoft continues to face internal and economic pressure.
In connection with restructuring, planned layoffs, and a return to office requirement, a walkout of over 1,200 employees is also mentioned. In addition, several projects have been canceled, including the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
