Further details shared by Sign Esports reveal that the Overwatch 2 team will be competing in new Sign orange jerseys and will officially play as Sign Esports in the Esports World Cup (EWC) at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This follows NTMR’s announcement online that it will be loaning its Overwatch 2 team to Sign, which will then return the roster to the organisation once OWCS Stage 3 begins.

In a response on X, Jack ‘Fl4k’ Ketchum, General Manager and CEO of NTMR, said: “I am really sorry to the NTMR supporters. Had to do what was best for the team, their performance at EWC, and their future as pros. I will be continuing to support them during this loan. I hope they have a great time practising in Korea and kill it at the event!”

He also clarified in a comment that the Overwatch 2 roster will be travelling to Korea for a bootcamp to practice ahead of the EWC tournament.

What will happen to Sign Esports after the international competition was not revealed in the post. However, Sign Esports stated that this was ‘the beginning of a new frontier,’ and that it was looking to achieve ‘ambitious objectives in multiple areas.’

Whether the organisation will continue to compete in esports post OWCS Mid-Season, or expand to other competitive games, remains to be seen.

The OWCS Mid-Season Championship is scheduled to take place during EWC from July 31st to August 3rd, 2025. The top teams that qualified from Stage 2 will go head-to-head for the lion’s share of a $1m (~£739,000) prize pool and earn the champion title.
