While the developers over at Motion Twin are probably best known for their work on Dead Cells, it looks like things have now come full circle following a major reveal from gaming giant Konami. More specifically, Konami, Motion Twin and Evil Empire recently announced Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, a new entry in the Castlevania franchise.
Set in 1499 in Medieval Paris, the game puts you in the shoes of a mysterious new Belmont, who at this point is simply referred to as “Trevor Belmont’s successor.” The character also starts out with the legendary Vampire Killer whip, which was a staple in previous Castlevania games.
From the get-go, the game’s visuals do resemble the fluidity and overall aesthetic elements found in Dead Cells, albeit with a heavy dose of design and flair found in the Castlevania games. While the gameplay also resembles that of Motion Twin’s earlier efforts, several signature Castlevania gameplay elements remain, such as upgradeable skills and weapons as well as challenging platformer action.
There’s no launch date at the moment, although the game is expected to arrive for the PS5, Nintendo Switch, as well as Xbox Series S|X.
