Publisher Saber Interactive and developer Boss Team Games have unveiled Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival as the first game set in the iconic universe. The first-person survival horror title follows protagonist Aidan as he fights to help save his girlfriend “from a hellish abyss.”
Doing so involves unlocking the powers of a strange puzzle box named the Genesis Configuration, which seems to play a central role in both the narrative and gameplay. Aidan makes a pact with Pinhead himself, having to face the twisted cult worshipping the legendary character and the Cenobites.
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival Announced
Fans of the movies will be happy to hear that Hellraiser: Revival sees actor Doug Bradley reprising his role as Pinhead for the first time in nearly two decades.
The single-player title blends survival horror with action alongside a significant focus on narrative. In addition to the powers of the Genesis Configuration, Aiden also uses an arsenal of “earthly weapons” to stay alive.
Although the announcement trailer didn’t offer an extended look at gameplay, it showcased several of the monstrosities we’ll face along the way.
One enemy has long blades replacing its limbs; another is a towering golem with grasping hands and exposed flesh where its face should be. Standard cultists, needless to say, sound like the least of Aiden’s problems.
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival doesn’t yet have a release date or price, but we do know that it is heading to PC, via Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Two Collector Editions are available for pre-order on the game’s official website. The first, priced at $129.99 or your regional equivalent, comes with the “deluxe game,” a puzzle box with LED features resembling the one Aiden wields in-game, alongside a Trading Cards pack.
The second, more expensive, Collector’s Edition of Hellraiser: Revival comes in at $200 plus shipping and handling taxes. It includes everything its less pricy predecessor does, as well as a Cenobite statue that can be used to display the puzzle box alongside many other physical goodies.
