The month of August is set to begin and it is coming up with a major clash at the box office. We are talking about the box office clash between Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 and Siddhant Chaturvedi’s Dhadak 2.
Both the films have been sequels of popular releases of their time and despite belonging to different genres both Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 have sparked substantial buzz in the town. As the makers have both the films have begun the advance booking yesterday, there have been speculations about who will be leading the trends.
At the moment, Son Of Sardaar 2 is leading over Dhadak 2 in advance booking but considering tight release of later the numbers are almost even.
But the real threat for both the films is from holdover releases. Mahavatar Narsimha started with low numbers but film scored on weekdays. It will be number one film tomorrow on its 2nd Friday, even higher than both of new releases.
Other holdover release Saiyaara will continue to add substantial numbers in third week too despite its blockbuster business in first two weeks.
Following are the advance booking numbers in Cinepolis for tomorrow Friday, 1st August:
Mahavatar Narsimha: 4500
Son Of Sardaar 2: 4000
Dhadak 2: 3000
Saiyaara: 1800
Dhadak 2 should open around 5 crore net number and then word of mouth can take it to good weekend considering reviews are good for the film. Son Of Sardaar 2 will open around 6.50 crore net but then word of mouth will be crucial as reports are not that good.
Mahavatar Narismha looking to score 7 crore on 2nd Friday and Saiyaara too will chip in with 4 crore plus 3rd Friday.

For the uninitiated, Son of Sardaar 2 is a comedy drama directed by Vijay Kumar Arora. The movie is a sequel to the 2012 action comedy Son of Sardaar. While Ajay reprises the role of Jassi Randhawa in the film, Son of Sardaar 2 also features Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Mukul Dev and Sanjay Mishra.
On the other hand, Dhadak 2 is a romantic drama helmed by Shazia Iqbal and happens to be the sequel to Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starer Dhadak. Marking Triptii’s first collaboration with Siddhant, Dhadak 2 is the remake of Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal
