Whether you’re on your first playthrough or tackling NG+ with an extra dose of challenge, the game allows you to give Mio and Mayu new looks. How to Unlock and Equip Costumes in Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake
Like in the original Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly releases, players can unlock new costumes by beating the game and completing certain challenges. These changes are purely cosmetic, but given the cinematic nature of the remake and its length (it doesn’t overstay its welcome), they’re fine enough excuses to replay through it all if you enjoyed Mio and Mayu’s dark tale.
Additionally, extra costumes are exclusive to the Deluxe version of the game and the Early Purchase Bonus Set. Upcoming updates might make the latter available again. However, those cosmetics are locked for the time being if you didn’t pre-order the game.
To equip unlocked (or bought) costumes, you only need to do so through the menu that pops up when you use a save point. This applies to both Mio and Mayu.
