The fact that it might actually be nothing more than a re-released Pixel 9a hasn’t stopped Google’s upcoming Pixel 10a from leaking like crazy in the past few weeks, ahead of its full unveiling that’s taking place on February 18.
Today we’ve already seen the Pixel 10a’s EU Energy Label revealing its IP68 dust and water resistance rating, A rating for drops, B rating for repairability, and the fact that its battery will charge for 1,000 cycles before losing more than 20% of its initial capacity. Now, we have more leaked images, showing the phone in all colorways from a lot of angles.
These images certainly look official, and they confirm the design for the umpteenth time. In short, the Pixel 10a looks just like the Pixel 9a, but it comes in some different colors.
Since every other spec is rumored to stay the same, the only chance it has of differentiating itself from its predecessor is using the newer Tensor G5 chipset, but even that may not happen, if one past rumor is to be believed.
So it might just be a renamed, recolored Pixel 9a. That would be a weird situation – this is not something we see all that often, but given the state of the North American mid-range Android smartphone market (the fact that it’s almost non-existent), Google probably decided it doesn’t need to do very much for the Pixel 10a to keep it relevant in its biggest (by far) market.
