Is your smartwatch playing games with your health data? Recent updates have left Pixel Watch users with inflated step counts and missing metrics. Fortunately, Google has confirmed a solution is finally on the way.
If you have noticed your Google Pixel Watch acting weird or feeling glitchy lately, you are not imagining things. Google has confirmed that the recent March 2026 security update introduced several bugs to its smartwatches. The company is promising a fix to make them reliable again.
Google Wearables Have Stopped Counting Calories and Steps Accurately
Google rolled out the March 2026 security update to eligible Pixel Watch models earlier this month. Shortly after users installed it, numerous bugs started appearing. Some of the most common issues include missing health metrics like SpO2 and skin temperature. Others involve wildly inaccurate calorie burn estimates and step counters that either fail to register steps or dramatically inflate the numbers, sometimes doubling or even tripling them.
This has left many affected users unsure whether to trust their watch or switch to other methods for tracking daily activity while waiting for a proper solution.
Finally, There Is a Fix for Pixel Watch Bugs
The good news is that Google has acknowledged the problems. On the Fitbit community forum (via 9to5Google), the company confirmed it has identified the root cause of the calorie goal error and is already working on a fix. Users should see a wider rollout of the correction within a few days.
In the meantime, if the issue persists, manually resetting your calorie goal in the Fitbit app can serve as a temporary workaround and restore more accurate targets, such as your remaining calorie deficit.
Many users have also reported that this same approach, or simply clearing the Fitbit app cache on both their phone and watch and then restarting the devices, has corrected the inflated step counts as well. One user shared: “Can confirm as OP that this is now fixed for me as of the end of day Friday (GMT).”
However, the fix may not apply instantly for everyone. Some users may need to clear the cache in the Fitbit app and restart their Pixel Watch to see improvements.
Unfortunately, the Pixel Watch is not the only device affected. Pixel phone users have also reported issues after the same March security update, including problems with the Always On Display. As of now, no definitive fix has been released for these phone-related glitches.
With these noticeable bugs continuing to impact Google’s devices, some users are starting to question the company’s quality assurance process. They are calling for more polished software updates in the future.
