Early this year, an announcement came from Google that Personal Intelligence would allow Gemini to connect to your Gmail, Photos, Search, and YouTube, thereby channeling its replies accordingly. As it is now, it looks like the company’s effort is to expand Personal Intelligence to NotebookLM (which is one of its best AI tools).
With this development of introducing Personal Intelligence to NotebookLM, Google wants it to learn from your chats, to understand you, and then present better responses. With the sources you add, NotebookLM grounds its responses.
With a Personal Intelligence option in NotebookLM spotted by Testing Catalog, the toggle appeared in the Settings menu and on a per-notebook level. It means that NotebookLM users can either turn on the Personal Intelligence for everything or keep it for the selection of notebooks.
Reports have it that the Personal Intelligence in NotebookLM will be able to learn from past conversations and create a persona. This way, it can channel its replies more to how you want them. You can still edit the persona if there are areas NotebookLM makes wrong assumptions.
The Personal Intelligence in NotebookLM is limited to your chats, unlike the Personal Intelligence in Gemini that pulls context and information from various Google services.
This coming Personal Intelligence in NotebookLM has just been spotted in testing. There’s the likelihood it may take some time for the feature to unveil. Though it won’t be for long as Google is working hard to bring improvements to its AI-powered note-taking tool.
