How Does DC’s Seven God-Aspects Compare to Marvel’s Infinity Gauntlet?

Superman has just quietly unveiled DC’s most powerful object yet, and early glimpses of this new addition to DC lore hint that its abilities may even surpass Thanos’ iconic Infinity Gauntlet. Could DC be aiming to claim Marvel’s crown of the most powerful object?

DC has provided a five-page preview for Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Scott Godlewski, and Alex Guimarães’s Adventures of Superman: The Book of El #1 (2025), which was fully released on September 3, 2025.

This debut issue launches a new series that continues PKJ and Scott Godlewski’s Future State: Superman: House of El and shows the Super-Family’s well-earned peace flipped upside down when “a powerful ally-turned-enemy invades Earth with an army at his back and a god-aspect of Olgrun.” While one god-aspect is powerful enough on its own, the preview reveals the existence of seven.

Adventures of Superman: The Book of El #1 opens with the destruction of New Phaelosia, a Kryptonian colony, and a grief-stricken father bent on vengeance. During his quest, Kryl-Ux uncovers the Spark of Olgrun, a remnant of Olgrun himself, the first and greatest of the Old Gods. This discovery also reveals the existence of seven separate god-aspects.

These seven god-aspects, if united, would grant their wielder the same universe-shaping power as Olgrun himself. The concept strongly echoes Marvel’s Infinity Gauntlet, but DC raises the stakes by introducing seven god-aspects instead of the Gauntlet’s six Infinity Stones. In doing so, DC positions this new creation as a potential rival, or even a one-up, over Marvel’s most iconic cosmic weapon.

The preview makes clear that even the Spark of Olgrun alone is devastatingly powerful. This single god-aspect could destroy not only the mighty supervillain Mongul but also the entire United Planets, whom Kryl-Ux blames for New Phaelosia’s destruction. If just one fragment holds this much destructive force, then the combined power of all seven is almost unimaginable.

Though details about the god-aspects remain scarce, the preview offers a glimpse at the Spark of Olgrun itself, depicted as a glowing blue spark. The story also teases that Kryl-Ux will ascend to godhood and devastate entire worlds, suggesting he does ultimately claim the Spark. This transformation raises the danger of what happens should he pursue the other six.

The question now is whether DC will fashion these god-aspects into a single weapon of ultimate power, much like Marvel’s Infinity Gauntlet. If so, Superman’s latest story arc may have just introduced DC’s most formidable artifact yet, a true equal, or even a rival, to Thanos’ infamous gauntlet and the six stones it carried.
