How to Recreate Sarah Pidgeon’s Actor Awards Low Knot

Sarah Pidgeon

With Love Story dominating conversations and beauty routines far and wide, Sarah Pidgeon—who plays style icon Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy in the hit FX series—turned heads at the Actor (née SAG) Awards on Sunday, March 1 with a beauty look worthy of the buzz. While every element of her awards show appearance felt noteworthy, the details behind her effortless low knot—complete with undone texture and face-framing layers—landed in our laps, and we couldn’t resist sharing.

“The dress inspired everything,” said celebrity hairstylist David von Cannon. Pidgeon wore a strapless pink Balenciaga silk SS26 RTW gown that felt understated and chic, and von Cannon designed the hair to mirror its silhouette: clean and sleek through the top, with all the volume and gathering concentrated low at the nape.

To bring the hairstyle to life, von Cannon relied exclusively on Nexxus products. He started by prepping Pidgeon’s damp hair with Nexxus Medium Hold Mousse ($20) and letting it dry naturally. He used flat pins to “guide face-framing pieces into the desired direction and allow them to set,” but overall, the goal was to create “natural movement throughout the hair.”

Once her hair was fully dry, von Cannon applied Nexxus Keraphix Liquid Crystallizer Treatment ($30) to boost shine and create “soft, piecey texture.” He then misted Nexxus Air Shape Workable Hold Texture Spray ($20) “to add light grip before gathering hair into a low, intentionally undone knot.” As the last step, he pulled out the face-framing pieces to make it look even more effortless and locked in the look with Nexxus Comb Thru Flexible Hold Hairspray ($20).

See the look in full below—it complemented her gown beautifully while subtly nodding to Bessette-Kennedy’s signature minimalism.
