HydroPeptide Resurface and Repair Peel Pads Review

hydropeptide resurface repair peptide pads

When I start using exfoliating pads again after an unintentional hiatus (my job involves trying so many different things!), I wonder why I ever stopped. That glow, that smoothness—it’s almost addictive. But, not all exfoliating face pads are created equal. Some leave my skin feeling tight and red; others don’t produce the results I expect after trying just about every formula on the market over the years. My most recent experience was with HydroPeptide Resurface and Repair Peptide Pads ($89 for 30), which I absolutely adore. Here’s my honest review.

The Benefits of These Exfoliating Pads

Some exfoliating pads rely solely on acids to do resurface the skin, but this treatment goes above and beyond—think of it as a chemical peel and a peptide treatment in one product. And these days, I think many of you would agree that a multitasking product is usually the smartest way to go. I want my skin-care products to work harder so I don’t have to. This formula does the heavy-lifting and then some for that healthy, glass skin–like glow. It’s great for all skin types, but especially helpful if you have dull, rough, acneic or mature skin.

The two-step pads allow for the acidic ingredients to penetrate in Step 1, followed by the peptide treatment in Step 2. Step 1 contains a 3.5-percent blend of AHA, BHA and PHA exfoliants (lactic, glycolic, salicylic and lactobionic acids), along with niacinamide and hydroxyphenoxy propionic acid (a retinol-like bioactive with anti-acne benefits), to promote cell turnover and give skin that smooth feel and even tone. According to HydroPeptide, this mix of ingredients also helps prep the skin for the peptides that come next. Step 2 contains the brand’s patented, encapsulated peptide blend that boosts hydration and supports collagen production. Over time, fine lines and wrinkles look smoother, dark spots look lighter, pores look tighter and skin looks more radiant.

How To Use Them

Apply Step 1 to your face and neck after cleansing (wait a couple minutes after cleansing to let your skin’s pH adjust). After swiping on the peel, wait two to five minutes, depending on your skin’s tolerance. My sometimes-reactive skin turned pink the first few times, but then acclimated. Then, apply Step 2 to your face and neck, and don’t wash it off. I like to follow with a hydrating serum and a barrier cream or rich moisturizer. The peel pads are vegan, fragrance-free and come individually wrapped so you can easily throw them in your bag for traveling, or the gym, etc. There are 30 treatments per box.

HydroPeptide advises not using this product if you’re pregnant, nursing or have an aspirin allergy. Make sure to always wear sunscreen when using the peel pads as well, as it can heighten the skin’s UV sensitivity.
