Cosmetic goods worth around ₹60,000 traced

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra – Police in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have cracked down on traders selling ‘Made in Pakistan’ cosmetic products. Goods worth around ₹60,000 were seized from the City Chowk police station jurisdiction, and three individuals have been arrested. A court has remanded them to two days of police custody. Authorities are now investigating how these banned items entered India.
Complaint led to action
Police received information that traders in areas such as Shahganj, Ghasmandi and City Centre Mall were openly selling cosmetic products imported from Pakistan, despite a central government ban. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had also submitted a memorandum to the Police Commissioner regarding the issue. Acting on the complaint, City Chowk police conducted simultaneous raids at three shops, where the banned products were found.

Supply link under investigation
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the supply of these cosmetic products was coming from Mumbai. The central government had imposed a complete ban on goods imported from Pakistan in May 2025. Police are now probing how these prohibited products reached Mumbai and were further distributed to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Authorities are also examining whether such channels could potentially be used to transport more dangerous items.
