Kedagaon, Pune – To address challenges faced during temple rituals and the difficulties experienced by priests, it is essential for priests across communities to unite rather than operate within isolated groups. A lack of coordination between priests and temple trustees increases the likelihood of government control in temple affairs.
Speaking at the ‘Gurav Samaj Sammelan’ held at Bormalnath Devasthan in Kedgaon, Shri Sunil Ghanwat, National Organiser of Mandir Mahasangh, emphasised the need for collective action. The event was attended by over 150 temple representatives from across Maharashtra.

Shri. Ghanwat also suggested that, similar to provisions in certain states where maulvis receive salaries and grants, the Maharashtra Government should consider providing financial support to priests. He further highlighted that reclaiming land currently under the control of the Waqf Board should be a collective demand. According to him, unity among priests and better coordination with temple management are crucial for safeguarding temples in the present context.
Advocate Suresh Chaudhary of Bhimashankar Devasthan, Shri. Kailas Aba, President of Bormalnath Devasthan, and several other dignitaries were present at the event. Representatives of the Gurav community from across the state expressed their commitment to temple protection and greater unity.
