One of the most successful Netflix shows of all-time is enjoying a resurgence on the platform ahead of season 2 dropping. Wednesday was a smash-hit on Netflix when it debuted on the platform in November 2022, and broke multiple streaming records during its eight-episode first season, including becoming the second most-watched English-language series on Netflix.

The show stars Jenna Ortega as the titular protagonist as she seeks to solve a murder at her new school. Wednesday season 2, part 1 is set to drop on Netflix on August 6, with part 2 scheduled for release on September 3. The show is now seeing a resurgence in streaming popularity in the run-up to season 2’s impending release.

Per FlixPatrol, the show is surging up the Netflix charts once again, in the run-up to season 2’s August 6 release date. The series is currently inside the Netflix Top 10 in more than 60 countries, and currently occupies the #8 and #9 spots in the UK and the United States respectively.

With a near three-year hiatus between the Wednesday season 1 finale and the first part of season 2, viewers clearly felt the need to recap the events of the first season. Wednesday is a clever and expertly plotted murder mystery, and refreshing events will only make the experience of watching season 2 more fulfilling.

Wednesday season 2 is also set to introduce some new characters, with new cast members including Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, and Lady Gaga, so recapping important plot points before Wednesday season 2, including narrative structure and character arcs, helps viewers to prepare for a new season. The fact that season 1 is back in the charts globally should point to huge success for season 2.

Reliving the magic and world building of Wednesday season 1 is definitely going to improve the viewing experience for season 2. What’s more, with Wednesday season 3 already being renewed ahead of season 2’s debut, it is important to recap season 1’s iconic narrative, as well as brush up on plot points that may come up in later seasons.

All four episodes of Wednesday season 4, part 1, will be available to stream on Netflix as of August 6.

Based on the show’s streaming performance during its initial run, as well as its recent resurgence, it is safe to assume that Wednesday season 2 is going to set (or even break) more streaming records. There is also a chance that season 2 could even wind up becoming the most-watched Netflix season of all time.
