It’s official: the Nothing Phone 3 Snapdragon chipset has been confirmed. Nothing announced today that its next flagship, the Nothing Phone 3, will run on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4—marking the most powerful chip the company has ever used.

We previously reported on the leak, but now Nothing CEO Carl Pei has made it public. “We really have to outperform our previous flagship,” he said. “Compared to Phone (2), it’s going to be 36% faster on CPU, 88% stronger on GPU, and 60% stronger on the NPU. But what it means in practice—it will feel a lot snappier.”

Pei emphasized that raw power is just part of the story. “We wanted to create a balanced experience,” he explained. “This time everything else also got much better, so we needed an even stronger chip to drive it. People will use these products for many hours a day, so for us it’s about creating a holistic experience.”

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 brings notable improvements, even if it falls just short of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Along with its unique CPU layout (no efficiency cores), it supports upgraded AI tasks, 4K low-light video, and XPAN wireless audio.

With this confirmation, Nothing Phone 3 is shaping up to be a major step forward from the Nothing Phone 2, both in performance and in day-to-day usability. The launch is scheduled for July 1, and all signs point to Nothing delivering its most refined smartphone yet.
