You know when you ask ChatGPT a simple question and expect a simple answer, but you get a long response that could obviously be shortened? Exasperating, I know. OpenAI noticed that too and came up with a solution.
There’s now a solution to the problems from ChatGPT for always answering a simple question with a long list of its limitations. OpenAI has introduced GPT-5.3 Instant as the new default model for ChatGPT to reduce the awkward part of the conversations. This upgrade is made to minimise unnecessary refusals and shorten safety disclaimers to enhance the AI’s overall tone.
The previous versions of the system sometimes used a defensive approach when answering questions. The model might begin with a long explanation of safety rules before actually addressing the prompt. Some other times, it might refuse to answer a question, probably as a result of misinterpreting the intent behind it.
The good news is that OpenAI has brought GPT-5.3 Instant to fix that behaviour. Its concern is to deliver a direct answer when the question is reasonable.
The upgrade will simply appear the next time most people open the chatbot and it will be able to boost ChatGPT’s intellect as well as its social niceties. It’s expected to upgrade the more subtle qualities that determine if it feels nice or annoying to talk to an AI.
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT-5.3 Instant has improved accuracy. That’s to say, it’s expected to have fewer hallucinations (roughly 27% fewer when doing online research, though only 20% fewer without going online to check ). It’s also expected to be better in terms of blending web data with its existing knowledge.
ChatGPT 5.2 being replaced with ChatGPT 5.3 changes the whole experience in daily chats. The update covers everything ranging from homework help to recipe ideas as regards how something works.
However, GPT-5.2 Instant won’t be completely wiped out as paid users can still access it. This time, it will serve as a legacy version. ChatGPT will now offer fewer disclaimers and better answers.
